Celebrating the Journey of Viksit Bharat, inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi

India’s tribal communities are the custodians of the nation’s deepest traditions, rich cultural heritage, forests, languages and enduring spirit.

Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026 is a month-long national celebration, from May 10 to June 9, 2026 , dedicated to honouring the legacy, contributions and transformative journey of empowerment of tribal communities in the making of Viksit Bharat .

Inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs brings together districts, states, institutions, students, researchers and tribal communities from across the country in a collective celebration of pride, progress and empowerment.

10 – 17 May 2026

Technology as a Development Driver

AI, digital tools and indigenous innovation — harnessed in service of tribal healthcare, livelihoods and opportunity.

Jan Bhagidaari — Sabse Door, Sabse Pahle

Governance, services and entitlements reaching the remotest tribal habitations first. Every village. Every community. Every voice.

25 May – 2 June 2026

Birsa Lives in New Bharat

Honouring the legacy of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the unsung heroes of India's tribal freedom struggle — connecting their courage and contribution to the nation's history, present and future.

1 – 7 June 2026

From Classroom to Confidence

From EMRS and Ashram Schools to national scholarships and beyond — tribal students and young leaders are building a generation defined by confidence, ambition and purpose.

Tribal districts sharing the journey of transformation with evidence

Under Janjatiya Garima Utsav, tribal districts under PM-JANMAN and DAJGUA from across India are documenting their compelling stories of tribal transformation — in various categories such as education, health, livelihood, innovation, culture and governance.

The most compelling stories will be felicitated at the national crescendo on 9 June 2026.

The Utsav culminates on 9 June 2026 — bringing together field evidence, participation of tribal students, district champions, institutional milestones, achievements and cultural memory into one moment of national recognition for tribal India celebrating the journey of Viksit Bharat.
